Erogen is a romance-oriented AI companion and roleplay service from Corinth LLC, a company with a registered address in Wyoming whose terms follow Delaware law. Its founder introduced it on Hacker News in February 2024, following an earlier public beta. You can talk to characters made by the community or create your own, and the toolset includes personas, AI voice, calls in a phone style, avatars that shift with the story, and credit-based image and short video generation.
Adult chat is permitted under thorough community guidelines that forbid anything involving minors, grooming or deepfakes. On the free tier a slower default model handles 75 messages every three hours, but replies from the character count too, so we got 37 messages of our own per window, roughly 300 a day across a full day. Silver ($15 per month) and Platinum ($35 per month) remove the message cap and add quicker premium models, bigger memory and a monthly media credit allowance.
The site is a good match if you want plenty of free chat and clearly written content rules. On the downside, there are no app store apps, calls and media share a single credit pool, free users are limited to a 4K context, and the FAQ concedes that characters can get earlier events wrong.

Why this score. Little independent testing of Erogen was published in 2026, so we rate chat quality as moderate; older reviews note some repetition and the FAQ admits to memory slips. The Characters score reflects a busy community library with regular contests. For features, it has calls, voice, personas, dynamic avatars and image-to-video, though we found no group chat. Value rates well thanks to the big free allowance and a $15 starting plan. Privacy gives credit for tight content rules and a policy of not selling data, but notes a US-registered LLC that discloses little. UX reflects a well-built web app with no store apps.

We opened a fresh English-language account and chatted with Tasha. Every figure below comes from our own session in a normal browser, not from the platform's marketing.

That 75 covers both sides of the chat: in a new window, 37 of our messages were answered and the 38th triggered the limit notice. Windows sit at fixed local times (19:00, 22:00 and onward) instead of starting from your first message, so the 600 per day on the plans page works out to roughly 300 messages you write yourself over a full day of chatting. Two of our first 37 messages failed with "We weren't able to send this message", so we resent them.
